When eating a baby carrot or a celery stalk on the veggie tray,
you pat yourself on the back for choosing healthy options. You can eat
vegetables raw and get the most nutritional value in this way, but in some
cases, some vegetables should be avoided eating raw not so much for their taste
but because when boiled, they give their true nutritional value.
Root vegetables
Root
vegetables including potatoes or turnips contain a great source of fiber and
vitamins. Choosing root vegetables with dark skins are more likely to reap
better health benefits. Boiling them with the skins and peeling them before
eating is a good way to help keep all benefits while cooking.
Broccoli
Recent
studies have revealed that broccoli has more health benefits after steamed
rather than in its raw form. Its properties are great for the body cells and
even fight cancer. Furthermore, it is choked up with antioxidants like vitamin
C.
Asparagus
When
steamed, asparagus will retain all of its miracle benefits. This kind of
vegetables is proven to be great for your heart health and the nervous system.
However, be careful in the steaming process because most of the benefits can disappear
with too much heat.
